Almost Wordless Wednesday… The Helper.

Every year, I decorate the tree – usually alone.

This year, I had a supervisor for the train that goes underneath.

About solodialogue

I'm a lawyer and the mom of a 6 year old boy with autism. I work part time and spend the rest driving here and there and everywhere for my son's various therapies. Instead of trying cases, I now play Pac-man and watch SpongeBob. I wear old sweaters and jeans and always, always flat shoes to run after my son. Yeah, it's different but I wouldn't change it for anything. The love of my child is the most powerful, beautiful and rewarding aspect of my life.

Isn’t that wonderful! I remember the first time Alex participated in hanging an ornament – I had bought a very special interest ornament as a motivator. It was one ornament, but by golly I had tears in my eyes when he put it on the tree! Now he participates fully, sometimes stepping away to flap a bit and then right back at it. 🙂

  2. I too decorate the tree alone, but always under close supervision! Little Miss has a few of her own ornaments when inevitably end up hung in places other than the tree. Yesterday, I found a wad of jingle bells dangling precariously from a light switch!! Who says her fine motor needs work?!

I am not even remotely allowed to decorate alone. Lily has not yet participated in any activity besides undecorating the tree (usually by whacking it unceremoniously until something falls off).

Must be nice to have such a handsome helper….

That is awesome! I always decorate the tree alone but that’s because it usually involves foul language on my part. Ever try to get garland around a 14 foot tree??? Take my advice…don’t do it.

Awww, such a cutie. So glad you had a helper this year.

Every year I vow to elicit assistance in putting up the tree and every year when I announce it’s tree-decorating day, the house becomes unusually silent. Doh! I should announce this every day! God, am I slow. Your tree and your helper – DAR*LING!

  8. Ooh, a train going around the bottom! I wonder if that might distract my two from massacring the tree and ornaments when my back is turned. Perhaps the boy at least. Be glad you don’t have a helper (yet). 🙂

Every time I see a pic of Tootles, I am always blown away by how beautiful he is. Karen, your heart must be overflowing with love and joy.
