Almost Wordless Wednesday…

Thank you for all your kind support yesterday.  Yes, the EEG placement went so much smoother than the first experience!   Sedation was necessary still.  (He cannot help but melt down whenever his head is touched for anything beyond a couple seconds).

Waiting room.

Passing out at placement. The word "egg" was used as his "swear" word here.

Wrapped up, back pack next to him and passed out.

The truth is that the medication used to calm him for the placement did not wear off until 4 p.m.   So, despite valiant efforts on my part to keep him awake, he was, pretty much asleep until 4 p.m.

We had to be back early in the morning for the removal.  Oh well.  Sleep is overrated when you’re a mommy.

About solodialogue

I'm a lawyer and the mom of a 6 year old boy with autism. I work part time and spend the rest driving here and there and everywhere for my son's various therapies. Instead of trying cases, I now play Pac-man and watch SpongeBob. I wear old sweaters and jeans and always, always flat shoes to run after my son. Yeah, it's different but I wouldn't change it for anything. The love of my child is the most powerful, beautiful and rewarding aspect of my life.

  1. Dude — I am SOOOO going to start using “egg” as a swear word from now on! Love it!

I’m so glad things went better this time around. Good luck with the removal and clean-up!

OK – I didn’t get a chance to check in with you yesterday so I feel like I’ve missed a major event in T’s little life! And I totally missed getting ready to rumble with you! OH EGG!!! That’s it – I’m not missing a day again!

Happy to hear that things went more smoothly this time and no one’s bones were bashed. Look forward to hearing the results of all this work.

BTW – I just don’t know how that sweet boy can still look so cute even when he’s cussing and wrapped up like a mini-mummy…

When my son was 3 we TRIED to do an EEG. He could NOT fall asleep. I’m so glad your son was able to even with the med. And I am sending hugs, just becauses mamas who don’t sleep need them.

It is great to hear you didn’t have the same experience as last time!!! Hopefully overnight went well. Our neuro told us getting K tested for seizures wasn’t necessary, even though I told her I had 2 friends whose asd kids had no signs end up having seizure activity…sigh. Tomorrow is K’s physical so I am going to try to talk her ped into ordering one. I just want to know!

  10. Oh no, you had to do it again?! Poor him, and poor you. Glad it went better than your last time though. I just can’t face it again.
